Nintendo likes user-generated content

Reggie Fils-Aime addressed the topic of user-created content at the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Conference today, asserting that Nintendo recognizes the importance of such content in today's market. GameSpot reported the following quote from Fils-Aime's speech:

"If you're in the entertainment business, any form of entertainment, this is the game-changer... The era of passive entertainment is waning, and active entertainment is literally where the action is."

Although GameSpot insinuates in its report that Nintendo is simply imitating its competitors in the online sharing space, it's clear that Nintendo recognizes the importance of user-creation in "active entertainment," a subject in which Nintendo has paved the way in many other respects.
